And now the Smith family gather!
So today was go to LaGrange GA and see the graves of Grandma and Grandpa McCord who watched me when I was younger and we also saw Andre Micheal's grave. He was my mom's twin brother. He died after a month. It was sudden and no one knows for sure what he died of, but mom said it was probably colic but she is off to find out this month.Next hard to see her as I remember her as very lively and such and she seemed to be forgetful this time around. But she is 92 and has been living in the home for about 2 years now. Next we tried to see Aunt Jesse Pearl, but no one knew where she had been moved to. The one cousin who might no one could get a hold of and it was whispered that this cousin was her step daughter and not very nice to her or the rest of the family. It was odd. And very frustrating. But I can't talk as I am not really close to many of these people. I don't know the ins and outs of their lives. So ...
Then it was drive down yonder a piece to Junior and Quin Short's(Cousins of Grandma) and visit then off to Linda Smith's (Mom's first cousin's on her mother's side) and see all those folks. Unfortunately for us NEXT weekend is the Smith Official Family Reunion. We mare a week early. Oh well. May be next year. They were all very nice. And some remebered me and some didn't. I recalled some but not many. People thought I was my other aunt at first, but then remembered me for my mom's oldest. Ah well. It was nice to see pictures and hear stories of people I have heard about when I was little.
Then it was drive to the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, GA. We had a nice buffet dinner and some fried green tomatoes! They were great! I love 'em! I had 3rd these were so tasty. So if you get the chance to have them, do it. I can't say it enough.
Tomorrow I got to Atlanta with my favorite aunt and uncle and then on a plane back home. Yeah! I miss my friends and my bed! I hope you all had fun at fair or at the movies or all the other cool things you got to do. I have a bottle to give a Mr. Nitehunter with some GA red clay and a piece of kudzu for his vacation collection if he still has them.
And I am going to try to get postcards. Of course I may just bring them home, we will see.
