This past weekend....

It was great to realize that this year was my 7th year at PantheaCon and it brought my con going to a full circle....

The First time I attended P-Con in 2000, I saw Mary K. Greer talking about this idea of 21 ways to read a Tarot Card.  I really enjoyed the class back then.  Also I saw Raven Grimassi for the first time and he shared the story of how his grandma was an amazing woman and how she inspired him to write Italian Witchcraft.  And his reenacting of his grandma responding to a fundie who said she was going to hell for her beliefs, "Hee hee.  I don't believe in Hell.  So I not going there." to paraphrase.  I also went to my first The Living Tarot performance.  It just struck me that may be that is where I need to focus my ideas and energy.
Fast forward to 2007:  I am working in the Hospitality Suite of the Con, helping with Tarot-To-Go.net, we have a ton of interviews scheduled, and Mary is speaking on her new book 21 Ways To Read a Tarot Card, Raven was speaking on Italian Witchcraft and The Living Tarot was being performed!  It was terrific for a way to have this particular circle close.
I helped interview Lon Milo Duquette, Mary K Greer, Miri Hunter Habauch, and James Wanless as well as set up interviews with so many others!  I got to attend Mary, Raven and Lon's classes as well as Thalassa's class and divination panel.  Also I enjoyed just being at the Con. And the Living Tarot was great, but still not as good as the time I saw a new way to Look At the Sun Card!
[profile] djehutysherit came out to see her fellow church members and we did some people watching when we had time as I was running around going to the classes.  And [personal profile] mendou said the best thing ever!" Can't you spray for that?"  in response to a friends cell phone alarm!  It made my morning I must say.  Thank you!

The rest of the weekend was just great and seeing so many people and friends and also Margot Adler(even though I feel asleep a bit during the talk!) was amazing.  It just goes to show how safe and comforting her voice is!  And how sick I really was.  And today I have paid for it.  I am home sick and recovering from the cold finally getting me.but I digress...
I want to thank [profile] sami406 for letting me have the second room she had reserved.  Sorry I didn't see you much, but when I did you looked like you were having fun!  Hope so!

Also I wanted to thank [profile] andrewcory for introducing me to Sadie.  She was very nice.

And last but not least, James Wanless is an amazing speaker and if you ever have a chance to hear him talk do it.  His enthusiasm is so refreshing and contagious!  And his deck, The Voyager Tarot is amazing as well.  It is one of the first collage decks done before photoshop and when you see it, you will be fascinated.
I took his class and fell in love with this deck.  I need to find one or just order it from him.  On the back is looks like an Indian Mandala, but it is really a cross section of Human DNA!  It is a 10 point star!  It was so beautiful.  And the images are so rich.  I have no words to describe it.  Just try to find a copy of this deck or ask me to show you mine when I get it.

It was a great time and I loved every bit of it.  I got to do more this year than I have in previous years.  I can't wait til next year.

Also One Last thing:

We should dish sometime - I've been wishfully thinking of PantheaCon for a few years now, one of these days...also I've not yet reached beyond the "dabbling" phase with my Tarot, and I'd love to learn more/get insight. Not many people I know have a gift with them (not that I'm convinced I do, or anything). Anyways, here's another common thread:)

I have a great class to recommend, but you need to be willing to travel to Oakland.
Got to www.tarot-to-go.net and look up classes. Thalassa is the teacher and it is at the Ancient Ways Store. Also the Celtic Tarot Class in Alameda is also good. However the AncientWays class is more in depth and gives a bunch of great info for people exploring Tarot. I have takern it and the advanced class as well as other discussion classes with Thalassa. Anastasia who is teaching in Alameda is also good and I have done some great sessions with her as well.

Also the Tarot-to-go podcasts will give you some insight to different readers and authors in the Tarot Community! And We should get together! Let me know when!
Also Good luck with your move!

hrmmm, I'll have to look into the classes when I have the moneys again. :) Oakland and Alameda are no prob - I'll live in one and work in the other.

The hanging out may have to be finagled later, but at the very least I'd love you to come to the housewarming...I'm looking a April Fool's Day!

The classes are at most $10 a class(so a total of $50 by the end) for the Oakland classes, the one in Alameda varies. You can call them.

And that sounds great for the house warming.
I look forward to it. (Unfortunately I can't help with the move. I am sick! and I wouldn't want to pass this on!)
Hugs!

BTW,
I didn't know that your Leader was also Mambo T! She is truly an amazing woman! She had Geoffery in awe! I have never seen him so quiet and reverant to any one!

You are one lucky woman to have such a glorious teacher!

Hugs!
