So how was NJ?
Jun. 2nd, 2004 01:20 amWell, I got there 2 hours later as there was storms outside of JFK air space so we had to land somewhere else and wait it out. Then my dad and my nephew Brian picked me up at the airport (6!!!... terminal 6!) and off we went to dinner. The 3 of us went to a seafood place that was okay because we missed the family dinner. Then it was off to the second viewing. I saw many family members and got caught up on family news. Cousin Sean(15) had a stroke but was recovering nicely, and Cousin David had died of a drug induced heart attack a month before.
Uncle Fred looked so real. I haven't been to a wake of some one I knew, in over 10 years and I didn't want to look then. Fred was right there. I know it sounds stupid but he really just looked asleep.
Then it was over to Aunt Sally's for short visit and discussion of the burial and church service on Sat. It was to be at St. Bart's where I had been baptized when I was a baby and then buried near Grandma and Grandpa Germain at Holy Cross cemetery. So go home, get up next day and go. After the services and burial, it was off to New Brunswick Pub for food and beverages and family gathering again. The food was well done and every one was so nice. Of course every one kept asking when I was moving to NJ. I joked and said "Find me a job and an apartment, then we can talk." Of course I am not moving. Love CA to much. may be for a long visit, but I like it here thanks. Then it was dinner with the step sister's future in-laws who are so sweet. Nice dinner and hanging with family. Sunday was down to the shore and again visiting with family. Was nice but more relaxing as it was just Dad and Lori and their kids, not whole crew of Germains.
Monday I was going home but asked since we had to be in NYC could we go to the Met. Museum of Art or some thing as I had never been. The family went and some had a good time and others didn't. Next was Madame Tusoes(sp) Wax museum and it was fun. After that we got food at Carmine's(great food!) and off to the airport for me. Got in at 12:30 AM and went to work at 7:30 am today.
