So the McCord family reunion was odd as my mom and aunts and sister and I were the smallest group. Also I felt like an underachiever as I am divorced with no kids. Oh well I read Tarot cards and such but that we don't discuss.
So we get there and say hi to folks and I start knitting. People came up and chatted to me about that then Grandpa and how Mom was as a kid. And everyone was excited that my leg of the family came. They kept talking about us and how the last time we were all together was in '83 at Stone Mountain. And it is odd to hear people refer to us as Kin. Kin this and Kin that. Cute, but odd. And most of the family live in the South somewhere, not all in GA. And very nice! Oh I am sure they were whispering behind their hands about us,but nice in general. Not all of the people talked to us, but the ones that did had nice stories about the sisters and Grandparents. And then it was off to see the family plot.(Yes I said it) which the families chipped into refurbish and add a new headstone to as well as more gravel. It is in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemeery. Yep, Salem... stop laughing. So I am witch from way back... Yeah right. but it really is in Salem, GA.
It was nice to see everyone though.
Then it was back to the hotel, to have the family argue about where we were going to eat dinner after Kelly watched the World Cup and the best soccer kick/goal ever! It was amazing! Any way... yeah one Aunt wanted Crackle Barrel and everyone else wanted something local. We Won, but the Passive Agressive Aunt pouted and made snide comments the whole time. The food however was terrific. I was pleasantly surprised! And I had a great Jambalaya. It was so good. And it was a lovely restaurant. Town 220 Bistro. Look it up!
Now I am typing when I should be sleeping as tomorrow is going to see the Smith family. That is Grandmother's People ya'll. And I actually know them. So more on the red clay and kudzu tomorrow.
People who went to fair, I hope ya'll had fun and hugs.
Everyone else, hugs and good night!
Oh and thank you for being part of my chosen Family if I haven't told ya'll enough!
