Smart, well-read, independent,
Things I once admired
Strong, proud, stubborn
Things that broke my trust
Lies, secrets, hidden facts
Things you used against me
Women, friendships, late nights
Things I was expected to accept
Never trust again without doubt
Never just accept
Now I must see the guile of others
Because I learned these lessons well




Late at night
Your words haunt me
Your threats still hurt me
I run away from the terror
During the day
But at Night
I can't shut you out.
You stole from me
And I shall never
Be able to get that back.
But everyday
I fight,
I rebuild my world
One brick at a time.
One loving caress,
One sweet smile,
And there is another
Who treasures me
And all I am.
You broke me
But I am not destroyed.
I left and now I strive
to be strong
again.




Girl,
You think you are a new perspective,
You are just a new face.
I have been where
You stand.
I was new once too
But once he finds he can't control you
You will be out with the old news.

But you will see it.
