So this weekend was WonderCon! I worked Friday and Sunday and played on Sat. This meant getting off work and heading to SF and meeting Amy and Stuart Ng of Stuart Ng Books and learning which books were where and such. Worked for two hours on Friday. Then up at the crack of dawn on Sat to go and run around Con with Catherine. We saw Alicia and Scott, Adam,Stella,Jim, Grady, Alberto, and Jamie! And of course I saw Spider and Chrisina as well! Then saw them again again on Sunday as well as Munchkin! Gosh how she is growing!!!
But the highlights for me were the TMNT movie preview, the 300 panel with Gerard Butler, and meeting Peter S. Beagle! He was the most interesting person I have met in a long time. He was very soft spoken and he had a manger that was willing to tell the story of how his book and movie, The Last Unicorn was so popular in Europe(Germany to be specific) and how it is shown every year at Christmas like we see The Christmas Story here. I loved that movie and the story. And Peter told me after he signed my book that Sally was a favorite name of his and one of his characters in his book he was selling was named Sally. He then told me of the time he was at a book signing and a boy brought him a copy of his first book A Fine and Private Life to sign that he had orignally given his 2nd grade teacher which Peter had inscribed to her with a poem she loved.(She had believed in him and they had stayed in touch for many years) but the boy wouldn't sell him the book. And then Alicia offered to take our picture. She will send those to me soon and I will post them. I also talked to him about how I loved the movie The Last Unicorn and he said that working with Christopher Lee was an amazing process as he is one of the most literate people he had ever met. Also Christopher Lee did the voice over in the Germany as well as being the orignal voice on the movie for King Hagrrad. And that the soundtrac to the movie had only been released in Germany. It wasn't available in the US. Well then I will have to go online for it I said. The manger said if the next year goes well, they will have the rights back and will re-release the soundtrack in the US! And it turns out Peter lives in... OAKLAND! Yep. Still amazed! Then went to see the Spiderman 3 preview and had dinner then went to the WonderCon Masquerade and then to the Star Wars Fan movies! My Favorite is still TrooperClerks but a new favorite is Pitching Lucus. It was very fun. Then Sunday was back to work all day for Stuart. It was a long day but fun. I didn't do much running around on Sunday. Just cashiering.
I did miss a meeting on Sunday, but I had gotten my days mixed up so I had to work instead of spend timw with a group of lovely women. That was kind of a bummer, but it is how it turned out. Ladies I hope it went well.
Now work is there and hopefully I will get to see the Mikado with The Man and his parents this weekend. And I believe there is a guild meeting as well! So busy and still not sure what is what this year! Off to bed!
Hugs
