On Friday Oct 31, 2008, I got to be present for the joining of two people whose lives have been made even better by saying "I will" to each other. It was beautiful to see M and M become more than the sum of their individual parts.
I met Mr. M when he first showed up at a Ren Fair with his past GF. He was sweet and willing to help and he jumped head first into The Bande. He broke up with/got dumped by the GF and was kind of mopy for a bit and fit the Little Goth Boy image to a T. Then he started to smile more as he had met some one. He said she was really intriguing but she didn't live near him so he would see. Then Calaveras happened and he brought her to it. It is fondle know as Snow Fair and boy was it a challenge. Mr. M had brought this new love to see what he did and it was their first "official" date. And What a date! The Lovely Ms. M smiled and seemed to enjoy herself. After I heard Mr. M say it went well. I thought if they can survive this Fair experience, then any thing is possible.
Next came Visailia Fair. And Mr. M brought Ms. M again. She seemed opinionated and well more sure of herself than any one I had expected Mr. M to be with. She spoke her mind and the world be damned. Hell on Wheels and all the words that describe a strong woman with a good head on her shoulders. And She really Liked Mr. M. You could see it a mile away. And OMG he really liked her.
It was fascinating to watch. I had never seen this kind of magic in such a fresh new couple. (They had been seeing each other for a bit by this point but when I only see some people at Fair it seems like it is more sudden than it really is, so sue me.)
Any way... I got to see this relationship blossom and grow to the day of Zombies and Love and Marriage.
They had been through crazy GFs, silly gaming misunderstandings, family crisis, 80's b-day bashes, ball gowns, Lee PressOn and Edgar Allen Poe, Dickens breakings( Red wescots + no last names = dead), Mojito Fairies,cute doggies sleeping in bed with them and a number of other relationship building experiences.
And through it all, they had each other. And they inspired others to be more like them;to renew their relationships vows, to be understanding of crazy quirks, to keep moving forward as there is some one out there for everyone to kill zombies, vampires or Republicans as needed by their side. All of the things you want to see in a truly matched relationship.
M and M have this and more. And even in my horribly written way, I am honored to know them both and stand and say I was there to see that new life start. And I hope that they have the joy they let us see on Oct 31 forever and ever.
