I miss him. He died 13 years ago and yesterday would have been his birthday. I still have the tape he made me of him singing and playing guitar. I still have a tape of his silly songs he made my friend who then taped them for me along with the song inspired by my bunny slippers. I still have his jean jacket and top coat. I still cry sometimes when I hear "More than Words" by Extreme. Will I ever forget him? No, but I wish remembering didn't hurt.
He was special and thanks to Megiloth's post about music, I remembered him as clear as it were yesterday. There are certain songs besides More Than Words that remind me of him in fun happy ways not just sad I miss you ways. Like Love Stinks by The J Giles Band, as he sang it on that tape he made me. "Loves stinks yeah, yeah yeah ,Espeically if you haven't taken a shower!" Or John Mellencamp's "Authtority Song". He was so talented and just a wonderful man. I will treasure these memoeries always.

Good night, D.J. Willis where ever you may be.

"Are you afraid of me?
Did I touch you in a place that breaks to easily?
Too much, too much for you to just believe in me,
To be with me
Forever."

It is never bad to remember the past, and sometimes one cannot help tears. Yet your memory of them keeps them alive in a way. There are so many people that hope that they will be remembered after they are gone. Something lasting about them. Well... your memory is that lasting thing, and he can rest easy with that. I see it like this, It is not bad to remember, but it can be bad to dwell on it too much. I don't think this is the case with you, but I think that is where the dividing line might be drawn.

Remember... Have a drink for them in celebration or respect... sleep, and wake to have it a whole new day full of wonder and possibilities.

What people who have passed on really want is to hope that people they cared about still carry on their lives happy as well. No matter what they are doing with it.

A few thoughts... Cheers to the memory! *raises a cup*
