I was kinda bummed on Friday. Lots of work to catch up on, running late, just not the best of days. I left work to go babysit my favorite rug rats and just hang out and not think. The kids and I watched The Kim Possible movie and had pizza and fun. It was cool. The next morning I got up and checked email. I was waiting for Rob to call so we could go to A.P.E. and I was kinda giddie. I wanted to see who was going to be there and what was new in the altcomic world. I got to see my favorite lady Tara McPherson of The Witching series (http://www.taramcpherson.com)! And Then next to her was Mr. Courtney of http://www.nakedcomix.com and I love the color and the play with images he uses(He is working on putting out a book not just images..) I got to talk to Greg Mannino from Dorothy of Oz(http://www.dorothyogoz.net)which is such a cool book! You should go to the site. It is more of a computer generated book, but still awesome! I talked to the ladies who were at the Friends of Lulu table and got some info on them(http//:www.friends-lulu.org)They are pretty cool and a great place for female comic artists to get some hook up and encouragement.(thesmallwonder would be great with these ladies I think!) There were so many more I just can't think of all of them right now! It was so cool! I can't wait to see where they all are at next year and of course keeping up online with the ones that have that. There were so many budding comic people there as well as established ones. I really had fun.
I came home to chill when I get a call"Sally! Come on over. Prep is under way and if you are waiting til tomorrow for me to go .. well I am here, so come on over!" Leslie was at guild food prep and giving me the heads up. So off I go as I didn't need to wait to get her on Sunday so I could head over Sat! I get there and the guys are cooking up mushrooms, Dana is checking out her honey online and being good support for everyone, Roo is mixing red sauce, Christina is organizing the meat slicing, Laura is going to town with the slicer and showing Joe the ropes to meat slicing! Heather, Melanie, and Leslie are visiting and bagging chili. Jeebus is on clean up and Brian and Adam are just following orders from the ladies! It was terrific! Everyone was laughing and joking and having a great time! It is so cool when our group just has fun and doesn't let the drama get in the way of working together. And I am sure there was drama somewhere, but none of us let it get in the way. I dug right in and trimmed cooked meat and stired pots of mushrooms, got teased about my outfit(A bit low cut but not.. ) and just had a great time. After all the cooking for the evening, there was movies and cosmos for every one sleeping over( a ton of people!) We all had fun with Ella Enchanted and had to follow that up with A Knight's Tale! Then I was off to sleep. Next morning it was up and hanging with the next shift of Kairi, Matty, as well as the sleep over crew. We got all the pasta cooked and meat finished off. We will be well fed at faire all season long!
Kendra came over with Ben and we got our dose of yummy Kendra goodness! I love her! I am glad she is here for a bit. I wish she could stay longer, but when she was only two exits away, we were both to busy with life! Oh well! I guess this will have to be my excuse to go to Hawaii...twist my arm!
Now it is late and I have updated the web site again, and made the flyer(still need to play more), but it has been an awesome weekend. I love it when I see this group really come together! And now it is night night time for me. I am ready for the next week then Brian comes on Friday! I can't believe it. Well off to warm bed and dreams of electric sheep....
