1) I have been drawing most of my life, but I never considered it a career. At 6 years old, I wanted to be a astronaut, then a roboticist (I was a weird kid). When I went into middle school, I asked them what classes I could take to become a mechanical engineer. Although the skill set remained the same, I kept changing careers.

However, I have been drawing nearly for the same amount of time, and never wavered with it. Even after starting Synaptic Misfiring, I didn't know I wanted to be a professional artist until 3 years ago. I wasn't too surprised with the relevation, though.

2) I want to be a cartoonist, and although a few art schools offer cartooning degrees, I wanted to be taught by working professionals. All the professors at the Joe Kubert School current work in the comic industry.

3) As a kid, I know I loved watching The Empire Strikes Back and all of the Indiana Jones movies. I've been enjoying older movies lately, like The Maltese Falcon and obscure film noirs like Rogue Cop.

4) I was either going to be at an engineering school or at the bottom of a whiskey bottle, depending how cynical I was. But I was under the impression I would be depressed, going from one empty, unfulfilling relationship to another.

I am nowhere near where I thought I would be. I'm back in Tracy, hanging out with friends, a veteran of a 9 month relationship, sober, and on the cusp of a new career. Even with the near nervous breakdown I had last week, I am still much happier now than I though I would be.

5) My emotions. If you look at every Synaptic Misfiring story arc is analogous with some event in my life. Writing and drawing the comic is my way of dealing with the emotions of those events, although I tend to have the Synaptic arcs turn out better in the end :). No one wants that gloomy of a comic.

On a more practical level, I draw everyday to improve as an artist. I am never satisfied with a single piece I've done, so I'm continuously trying to better myself.

1) Why did you decide Paganism was for you?
2) How did you get involved in the Living Tarot?
3) What book did you love as a child and why?
4) Why are you a Furry? What do you love about it?
5) What do you hope people will remember about you?

1: I am not pagan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paganism) in that I don't worship, nor am I 'countified'. A phrase I say a LOT is 'I am here for the people', and leave it up to the listener to decide if I mean the humans or what. Since my handle for anything else is a jungian archtype, which is an aspect of humanity, it still works. So what about the pagans made them attractive people? They are much more warm and open than the monotheists, as well as less dualistic. The lack of dualism that comes with not setting things into an Of A Single God and NOT of a single god tends to lead towards the idea that what works for you might not work for me, or them. I like the diversity and inclusiveness of paganism.

2: It is all Geoffrey's fault! And Teddi's, and Ember's and Ogam's and a million other peoples. Really, with as many MART people as I know, how could I not get involved in the Living Tarot. But Geoff was the one that had me really sit down and talk about a card. Not the one I played, and absolutely not for that deck. It is his conversations that showed me what the directors were looking for in card presentation. I am on a MART mailing list, through any number of people. I don't remember. The cattle call went out, and SongCoyote, who was the Devil this time as well as the director, liked the way Paka and I move togeather and wanted us in related cards but not something as obvious as the lovers. He, I think, had a much stronger idea about Paka being the Moon, so I got the Sun by default. :D

3: I can't do just one. Pick a specific age, or something?

4: Because I just am? My sister had the same exposure to anthropomorphic characters as I did, cartoons, books, myth, folklore, advertising... but it isn't something that works with her psyche so - she isn't. Whereas it is an affective tool for me to comprehend, explain, and communicate how I see the world, literally and conceptually, so I am a furry because I am. That I don't think I am not a human is why I am not a therian, but a furry. Just as a therian. You'll get a lecture. The storytelling shorthand and ease of surreal whimsy is why I like furry. Calling someone a fox is just packed with connotation. The, as an example, image of a ferret dressed up like a victorian matron at a fancy dress ball is just funny!

5: I don't keep track of stuff like that.

1) What is the most influentual event from your childhood that made you who you are today?
Probably being raised by a single mom. She busted her ass to make sure we had the neccessities and sometimes a little extra.

2) You are a funny man at fair. What made you decide to play this type of character?
I could not do BFA to save my life so I went Italian and then it just kept evolving.

3) Juice Jr. is a wonder. How did you come up with his name?(His actually name nor Juice jr.)
Thanks. His first name is after my brother (his middle name actually) who was shot and killed and Princess Batty Pants' brother who had killed himself. His middle name is after a really good friend woh was killed in a motorcycle accident.

4) You could say anything to any one person for two hours. Who would it be and what would you say?
I have no idea really. I pretty much say what I want when I want to who I want. Makes life easier.

5) Why do you have the yearly picnic?
Originally it started out that Bill & Stacy, Alberto and I thought it would be a good idea to have what we called "Tri Guild" get togethers, otherwise known as CoC (Coalition of Catholics) since we all played Catholics at faire. This way we would have 3 guild yards we could go to to get out of the streets and whatnot. The gatherings were designed to have us all get together and get to know each other better. We each hosted an event once a year (3 guilds, 3 events). However, they 2nd year turn outs sucked so I opened my picnic to other people and kept inviting more each year.

Peace...
