Fact of the Day: tarot cards
The true origin of tarot cards is unknown, but they are probably from China, India, or Egypt. Tarot cards resembling today's version first appeared in Italy and France in the 14th century. At first they were probably used for playing games, though gypsies may have used them for fortune-telling. From the 18th century onward, the cards began to take on esoteric associations, as certain European writers connected them to diverse traditions of mysticism, divination, alchemy, and ritual magic. The cards have retained these associations and are now widely used for fortune-telling. A modern tarot card deck consists of 78 cards divided into two groups: the Major Arcana group of 22 cards and the Minor Arcana group of 56 cards.

I actually did a report on this for Art History. I've still got it somewhere if you're interested.

If you would be so kind as to send it on, that would be great.

Thank you!

I am getting more and more excited about it as the days go by. Soon I won't be able to shut up about it at all. What does the tarot say about that?

I don't know.. but I will ask tomorrow and report back if you like..

(I normally don't read that way, but I can try... I prefer to read for a person live and let them touch the cards...)

Well that's new. Every tarot person I've ever known has been like "omgnonono! You must NEVER touch my cards or you'll de-attune their super mystickal powerz which are only attuned to meeeee!"

What? Are they insane? How are you to know what the person you're reading for thinks and feels? They put it in to their reading but touching the cards, not you!

Some day we will have to chat about this at length. This seems so silly to me.

Okay may be you are being silly here.. Hey do you have Yahoo messanger?

Nope, I'm being serious. That's how they are. I do have Yahoo messenger, but I'm in the midst of WoW and wouldn'tbe able to multi-task on it properly. I am checking e-mail every few minutes though.

I so understand about WOW.

And if you are serious, you really need to meet more Tarotists! To bad you are in MO. This weekend is PantheaCon and there will be all kinds of Pagans and such. I know You aren't really Pagan, but there are many interesting people and they can share ideas.
www.ancientways.com/pantheacon
is where you can find the program.
