WOW!
Last post was from 2013! Geez!
So let's see... BayCon 2013 went as well as could be expected due to folks not liking their Fantasy to trump their SciFi. Convolution 2013 also went well. And then Dickens 2013 we fun and we did silly pictures for all.
Drew and I are going strong and this year will be our 6th anniverary but we have known each other 16 years! I KNOW! I still can't believe how lucky we are that it all worked out in the end. We are working on being grown ups at least on paper. His job is going well. I am coming up on my unofficial 1 year anniversary at the Company I work at. Unofficial because I was a temp at first and that was just over a year ago. I love my job and I am not just saying that. It is interesting work and I really like the people I work with. It is more hours and more pay which also helps. And yet it is more than that. It does feel weird to be the token Geek in the office but it is kind of funny too.
Family Life:
My sister is moving after 7+ years of living in San Francisco. It is weird to think she won't be in the crazy apartment over the mechanic's any more. She is more freaked about this than I am of course. But it still feels weird as she was the Urban Lady in my world. Her work life is good though so I hope that helps.
My baby brother, who is not a baby at all, is living with us for now. He is really having a hard time being an adult. I think it is some of his generation and some of just him, but overall he is finally getting moving here in CA. He moved back from OH in 2010(I think) then moved to Portland for 2 years but that was not going as well as it could so he moved back here.I hope this all will balance out in the end. He does need his own place or at least not living with us. But he is trying to get things going and that is good. We will give him a few more months as long as he keeps working and building up on things he has started.
My Parents are well enough. They live in a weird cohabitation of two people who love each other but are not "IN LOVE" with each other. They care which is clear but they kind are living parallel lives, side by side but not really interacting with each other much. All I can say is as long as they are ok with it, it doesn't matter what I think. Mom and I do breakfast when we can which is nice. We go over for dinners when they want company so there you go.
Drew's folks are doing ok. Dad is recovering from a leg injury and Mom is helping Dad and still trying to do her things to keep active and such. She still sees the nephew when she can and yes the nephew is adorable! My sister-in-law and brother-in-law made a great little guy. They are in process of making another and I look forward to seeing what they have. Part of me is hoping for a girl, then we can give geeky toys to both!
CON LIFE:
Yep still doing con stuff and have volunteered to Co-Chair BayCon 2015. Our theme- Women of Wonder and the People Who Love and Appreciate Them. So what is that all about? Women-centric programming, Women who created Science, Science Fiction and Fantasy as well as Women in Media! Also men who created awesome Women characters and Men who Supported women in all areas. And SUPER HEROES! And some villains too! We are trying to have an amazing show and we will do our best.
This weekend we are off to LosCon and will have two nights of Parties to throw in honor of our theme! I am excited as well because of who the Guest of Honor is at LosCon- J. Michael Straczynski! B5 B5 B5! And so much more actually... but B5!!!!!
And Can I just say I have some great Guests of Honor to talk up for BayCon 2015? Who are they you ask? Let me share:
