Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I love the visual for this poem. I rememeber waking up and seeing a sunrise with my sweetie that first time. I miss the beginning of relationship. There is so much you have to say and so much you want to share. Then the "honeymoon" ends and real life comes and you both have to work and concentrate on living day to day. You still have the date night, you still talk about things that mean so much to you, and you share your dreams. Then you get in a rut. You are so busy with all the little things and making sure you keep up your responsibilities, you forget to say "I love you" or you just miss each other because you work nights and they work days. You sleep next to each other for a few hours but it is not the same. You miss each other being silly and don't like having to have hallway sex. You miss cuddling and being cute with each other. Then you look into each other's eyes and see your future and you know it is still special just cozy now.
