So I came home yesterday and found out that my hamster, Izzy, had died. He was just under a year old. He was an unexpected surpise when we discovered him with his 7 brothers and sisters.

<lj-cut=text"Sappy Story of Izzy's Life">Shawn and I went to D and J Hobby in Campbell last year on MLK,Jr. Day last year with Sean and Dovelyn. We had lunch then went in to the pet store next door. As Sean and Dove were looking at the snakes and reptiles, I looked at te hamsters. Shawn and I had a hamster a few years back and I thought it would be nice to get another. As I looked in the cage, there were many but only one gray and white one. So I asked to hold it. It seemed a little shakey but I just knew we had to take it home, so we did. We called it Sammy as we weren't sure if she was aboy or girl.
We let it explore the cage and set the bedding. We fed and watered it. Then Shawn went to clean the cage, just a week after it being in our home, when he screamed. I thought he found a bug or something but no, our hamster Sammy had babies! They were cute, pink, blind and hairless. They were so tiny! We both didn't know what to do. So we called the pet store, we looked on the internet and we asked people what we needed to do next. They would ride on the hamster wheel with Sammy and a few of them went around on it 37 revolutions. It was so crazy to watch. They were so tiny and independent. We raised then for 3 months and then we decided 8 hamsters were too much. We gave two away to friends and the rest we were going to give back to the pet store. We were planning on keeping one as well as Sammy.
On the day Shawn was to take them to the pet store, one escaped. He hide in the corner of the living room and Shawn couln't catch him. So he took the others and let me know that we had a hamster loose in the apartment. A week later during Shawn's 7th Seas Game, Jeebus just reached down and said "Got him," and handed me Izzy, named afer Eddie Izzard. So we had 3 hamsters and they were as cute as could be. We had to get two more cages, but it was worth it. They were sweet and we cared for them greatly.
I went away to visit my family in NJ and Shawn went about his usual routine. On the Friday before I was to return home Shawn noticed Izzy had a bump on his head. Then he realuized it was a bubble. How did Izzy get this? Probably from a cut that had gotten infected or he may have had issues we didn't realize as he isn't pure hamster.
He died on Tuesday and he will be greatly missed by myself and Shawn. He is no longer in pain and he is hopefully in a better place. I shall miss him.
