So I was planning to go to Placerville Faire for the whole weekend when I found out that on Saturday I had to go to a work meeting in which I volunteered to participate. So I called Bill and informed him I won't go at all. He says "You can't come? You have to come." "Why? You don't need me." was my reply. "Just come on Sunday." he says"It will be fun." "Okay I will be there Sunday." I say. I know I had a blast last year with the Gordons and some of the people I don't get to gig with often would be there. I ask Les if she wants to go also and she agrees. Then we get am email from Kairi and she has offered us to stay to her place Sat. night. It would be a great time to visit with her and a nice bed and a hot shower for Sunday morning would be a plus. So it is set.
Sat. night we drive up and Kairi is there with refreshments and giggling and fun and we stay up til 2 am. Then Sunday morning Kairi made us pancakes and eggs. Then we got dressed in our shifts and went out back and picked cherries from her cherry tree(so yes young, nubile, Italian, "Virgins" did pick those cherries Gianni). It was fun then off to faire. We show up and help the other ladies dress and do hair. Erik tickles one and all. Then faire is open. Bill teases me a bout luncheon and nearly have a heart attack. He probably would have loved to catch that look on film. I show Marti my new dress and she smiles and compliments the stitching, etc. I love Altaire and I can't say "Thank you" enough to her. Bill informs me we are having lunch with Marti' guild and then he shows me how her guild cooks out doors. This would be great if we could get people in our guild who wanted to do this. It is very cool to watch and the food tasted terrific! The ladies and I played spoons with some of the patrons, we read poetry and we attempted to visit with the Germans. We had fun then I had to go to lunch. The presentations was so lovely. I hope to do ours this way. I loved the salmon, but it is a favorite of mine. As we ate in the St. Marian's guild yard, our guild yard was busy. I watched as Erik fenced with patrons and Marti, who was not at lunch was setting up a gig next to our pavilions. Okay, I think, what is she doing? Oh it must be something for Heather,as Bill and Erik had bought her a chain of some sort. So after lunch we go back to our yard and patrons come and we chat with them. Just then Bill says"Now?Okay... Elena, come with me. You can kill me later." Marti had arranged to Dame one of our ladies in the order of the Dames of St. John of Jeruselum. It was me and you can imagine how surprised and honored I was. I know that I work hard and wish to have better relations with other guilds. This was a way to do this and I was so excited to be included in this group of women. I hope I will be able to live up to this group's ideals and can add to it. The rest of the day was a whirl wind and went by so quickly. Then the fair as over and we packed up and went back to SF to unload the trucks(small van and Erik's suburban.) Leslie and I also really seem to be bonding and that is very neat.
So next I hope to post the pics Tom C. took. They were really cool.
Okay so a bunch more stuff happened at this event, I just have read all the other journals that mention these and well this part was my story to tell. BUT Booda has some great news and she is so cute!!!!
I hope all is wll with all of you out in LJ land.
