I was having a decent day when my best friend told me about my hamster. She was staying with him as ZI can't have pets here.
He said he woke up this morning to her dead in her cage.
She was found at a pet store in Campbell on Martin Luther King,Jr. Day, 2002. I went to the pet store with bf, and another couple. We had just been to D and J Hobby next door, when we all wanted to look at animals. I walked by the Hamsters cages and the rabbits. I thought, " I miss Jacob." I looked at the bf and we both did the" Can we afford this? Do we want another one?" conversation. It came down to "Sally, if you want to it is okay with me." So I asked to see the little gray one in the back. I held her and knew it was a her and she just sat quietly in my hand. It was kind of odd, but I knew we had to take her home. So we get her home and put her in the cage we had from Jacob and gave her food and water. I would check on her and bf would as well. Then On Friday night, he was getting ready to clean Sammy's cage(as the pet store told us they didn't know if she was a boy or girl I chose Sammy), bf started to scream like a little girl. I was like "What! Are you okay? Is she oaky?" And he said "I can't... Come look!" In the pine chips by Sammy was 7 little pink tiny squirmmy things. She had had babies during the day. Wow! I had never raised baby animals of any type and was fascinated. I was also werided out as obviously we had needed to take her home for a reason and there it was. She seemed tired and here was why. So we call the pet store and get "We will give you store credit for them." and I just couldn't do it. Unfortunately we also couldn't keep 8 hamsters when we knew 1 was more than enough. SO we kept the hamsters as long as we could and give some away, but we realised we have to take them back to the store. We just didn't have room and they had started to fight after 8 weeks, which also means they might be able to bred. So we decided to keep Sammy and one other. The day Bf was going to take them back(we had 5 at that point having given 2 away), one decided to escape. SO we had Sammy , one of her babies, and one loose in the house. That was a Friday, That Sunday at gaming time, one of the players reached down ans say "Got him" and hands bf the escapee. So we decide to keep him also. So now we have 3. Well last Dec. Izzy died due to a cut on his head getting infected and now Sammy has died.
Another phase has ended and I feel very sad. I loved her and she was so cute. She was a soft ball of fluff who made me smile and rarely bit. She was a mother of 7 and she lived for 2 years+ however long she was around before we adopted her. I know this sounds silly but I will miss my Hamster. Thank you and good night.
