rosered32: (me as Francine!)
Last night was THE last night of my home away from home for the last 5 years. It is hopefully the last door I have to witness closing this year. It is one of the hardest to let close however.

Draggin Bytes was this little hole in the wall cafe a friend said I had to go to. I walked in and was introduced to a nice man, Steve Hansen, his son, Lyle and a bunch of gamers(the Orko Boys). It was a Thursday and kinda quiet. I was told "You have to come on Tuesday! Tuesday is live music and there are some really cool people you have to meet." Okay, so I drive out from Oakland and get run over by the love, the welcome, the understanding of differences, the openness to every religion and most political views, and the bohemian population of Livermore, as well as Hoffman's Bicycle. "Wow, I am welcome here and I just walked in," was all I kept thinking after that first Tuesday. Draggin Bytes has been through many changes and has grown and changed. It moved 3 times, people have come and gone and come back, a new dream has grown from it. So much feeling and no real words to express the well of emotions I have inside. This was a home that I could go and feel safe in. A hug from Steve could brighten any dark day I was having. It is where I meet a great group of people I get to call family, not just friends.

Today after I got off work, I thought,"I'll go to... wait, it's closed." It hit me more today because it is gone and other people will only hear of it's legend.

Thank you Steve for the opportunity to be a part of your dream and here is to the success of your new dream, B.Y.T.E.S. Project.
