I realize many friends don't talk about Religion and Politics as these are difficult topics. But I feel we all need to be aware of what the candidates stands for or against. I don't mind if you feel abortion is wrong for YOU. This is America and you have that choice. But I feel strongly that it is a personal choice and I should not have a say in what a woman may feel she needs to do. I would rather her have a safe place and support if she chooses to have an abortion verses going to back alley unlicensed "clinics". If "God" finds it wrong, when we die we will know. Until then I would rather provide safety for women who makes these choices. And sadly John McCain is trying to take that choice away. I am standing up here to say "I can't vote for you because of this."

"I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned." - Senator John McCain, 2-10-2007

Planned Parenthood provides health care and education to five million women, men, and teens in the United States and abroad every year. That's why the Planned Parenthood Action Fund is especially concerned about John McCain's record on reproductive health issues.

Here’s what you should know about John McCain:

· AGAINST Roe v. Wade-1

· AGAINST comprehensive, medically-accurate sex education-2

· AGAINST requiring health care plans to cover birth control-3

· AGAINST funding international family planning-4

· AGAINST funding to reduce unintended and teen pregnancies-5

· AGAINST funding for public education on emergency contraception-6

· AGAINST restoring family planning services for low-income women-7

That is a great question. I don't have the answer to it. I don't think any one will. BUT just because a woman gets pregnant, doesn't mean she has to stay that way. It is a crappy place to be in, but again, IF a woman feels this is what she has to do, I support her right to decide that.

The problem is that it is not a choice any one but the person making it can decide. I don't believe that abortion is THE answer. I believe it is AN answer for SOME. I believe prevention is a better solution. And Abstainace Only education leaves too much out to not keep abortion as a choice. It does not have to be the FIRST choice or the only choice. I would hope that people who choose abortion are not out there doing so on a whim. BUT they have to live with it and should know that IF they make this choice, they can do so safely.

And for all the visual you posted, what about the person who is unable to care for the child? Or the woman whose family abandons her because she got "knocked up?" What about the girl who's family is hiding the abuse of other members by saying it was planned when it was rape? I know the numbers aren't super big on these issues, but they exist. I say it is about the woman's choice. Unfortunately until a 3 week old fetus can survive outside of the womb, I will have to stand here and say it is up to the woman.
And when a 3 week old fetus can survive outside of the womb, I will gladly say "End abortion."

I know that it isn't an easy choice because I am a woman too. You are a very thoughtful and insightful person and I can tell that. There should always be exceptions, where rape, incest or when the mother's life is at risk the case. Adoption is an option. I know couples who have waited for years on waiting lists to adopt. Since abortion has been legalized, there just are few babies to adopt.
And I know, just from my own experience too, that the times I took responsibility for bad choices I've made (and there have been many) actually empowered me. They made me stronger and wiser and more compassionate. There are no BAD guys here. WE're all human and we are just doing the very best we can to get by and move forward. Thank you for talking with me. Even friends can "agree to disagree" and still remain friends.

Do you have numbers to cite here for this?
